How We Got Started

We acquired our first crested gecko as a gift from our friend Chris at Fringemorphs, a male we named Sampson, as a pet for our kids in 2012. Soon after, we bought a few females to pair with him to “see what we would get” as an educational experience for our children, and it blossomed into a hobby. We expanded our collection, trying out different pairings and getting some cool results. In 2017, we purchased an interesting-looking gecko who we named Sally from The Gourmet Rodent at a reptile expo. Originally, we were trying to create an animal with a solid dorsal and no lateral patterns and this gecko seemed like it would be a good addition to that project. Fast forward a few years and we decided to downsize our collection, keeping only 2 males and 2 females that were the offspring of our different breeding trials. We noticed something different about the 2 males, who were the offspring of Sally, and as they continued to grow, it became obvious to us that we had something unique going on with these guys. These 2 males are our original Epimorphs Highways, Toothless (who is one of our current male breeders) and Boaz (who is now owned by Fringemorphs.) After years of breeding as a hobby, we decided to take the next step and launched Epimorphs Geckos in 2022. What started as a family hobby has now become a family business, as our children are involved in the day-to-day care of our geckos as well as owning their own geckos that we use for breeding. Over the years, we have been very privileged to meet many wonderful people in the gecko breeding community and are very thankful for the relationships that we’ve built.
